I just asked a question why the US doesn't get rid of the electoral college and I got stupid answers from people I ume are conservatives because they were bashing democrats. They claim that NYC, LA, and chicago will decide the elections if we do it by popular vote. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. If the 2004 election was decided by popular vote Bush would have won anyway because he got the majority of popular votes. So don't give me that crap that five cities decide the election. And not all the states are monolithic votes. Many people in upstate New York vote republican just like many people in South Texas vote democratic. In fact people should want to get rid of the EC because that way NYC wouldn't have to decide the election for all of New York state. I think conservatives love the electoral college because it mostly goes in their favor. Remember the 2000 election? I'm not favoring democrats but I want each vote to count the same.

I am making cookie ornaments for our church children to decorate and my first batch turned out great but the second batch is very sticky and won't keep their shape after I use the cookie cutters. How did I get accepted into MIT?

I'm currently attending MIT, but I wnat to know if anyone else with similar credentials such as my own got in. I had a 3.4 GPA in high school, I was in many clubs (Captain in one), I did lots of community service, I got a 2140 SAT, I took 4 AP cles, I was a 1st generation college student (not a minority), good essays and interview, and overall well-rounded student with lots of pions and hobbies with a set life goal and pretty good idea of a what I wanted to major in. Is this normal for MIT to accept people like me, was I too low or with bad credentials, and was there anyone else like me who got in to a similar school? I do know that there were kids with better stats than me and still got rejected, any insight?

I love this girl in another country and we communicate through the phone but cannot speak each other's languages perfectly but enough to talk. The problem is that we can go minutes at a time without one word being spoken, which is so much more awkward than it sounds. I'll try to ask her a question about something and then she will answer briefly: yes, no, don't know. Just did my disc brakes on 99 Ford Ranger and when I tested it just now the brakes stop the truck steadily it's just that I can't stop suddenly, as if the pressure wasn't there to let it. After ten minutes of testing I checked and fluid was good...however the rotor felt a little oily when I touched it..Could there be grease on the pads? I got a advent calendar that you can put your own treats or items in. It is cloth and doesnt close completely. I was thinking of putting my son daily gummy bear vitamins in it and have him open it everyday and that will be his treat. False pregnancy in female rabbits.?

I've had my female rabbit now for 5 months, she lives with a male neutered rabbit, today i noticed that she has been making a nest in the closed in compartment of her hutch. She has pushed all the straw in there and also pulled out lumps of her fur to line the nest. It is definitely a false pregnancy as the male has been neutered for months so its no chance she is pregnant. Building house in former flood area-DEP issues?

My son does not like his car seat. Evertime we go out he starts crying because he wants out. I find that only a pacifier will get him to stop. And that is my next problem he is not able to hold it in his mouth. I tried an ortho pacifier and then switched to a longer nipple figuring the other was to short and he still is not able to hold it. Any suggestions on how to make car rides a litle less noisy? Also what type of pacifier should he use? The only time I give it to him is in the car.

Aquarium already getting cloudy?

a new tank will always go through a cloudy period, not necessarily when you first fill it up but like days after sometimes it will become cloudy, this is the bacteria getting set up, it sorta goes wild for a while then balances itself out, it is not only normal but actually GOOD for an aquarium for this bacteria to be present, once it levels out the water will become clear, it may take up to a month for it to clear fully. after this never take out more then half of the water when cleaning and doing water changes, if you take it all out and replace it all like some people do who dont know what there doing ,it will cause this reaction to occur again. every time i move to a new apartment and have to completely drain my aquariums i have to go through the cloudy stage again. just take 1/3 or at the MOST 1/2 of the water out once a week (you can go a month if you have to since you have a beta, betas do well in dirty water there natural habitat is pretty dirty swampy water) everything about your tank is fine as you described it though ,it sounds like your doing good.

Identifying This Cornet?

I got this cornet from the flea market that I have no information about. I asked the seller and he had no idea either. I also asked my local music store and several trumpet forums, only with the same answer. The horn is what I think is an American Triumph from the company Harry Pedler and Sons by looking at it, made in Elkhart. It's serial number is 43218, but since I don't know about the manufacturers I can't find out the age and such. It looks like it has the shepherd's crook, only it has a more trumpet-shaped curve than the traditional crook. It also has VERY fast valves, which is due to the rare bottom spring caps, so it seems like it's quite an old trumpet. It also has a much larger mouthpiece opening, so the only mouthpiece that I could (barely) fit on there was one of my long-shank Holton mouthpieces, so I'm guessing it may have had a custom mouthpiece (which it didn't come with.) I found out only 2 things in my research: 1. Harry Pedler was also the creator of the first metal clarinet and 2. Harry Pedler and Sons was bought out by Conn, but when I called their customer service to ask about it, they said they have no history reports, so they pretty much don't know anything about the company they purchased. :/ If anyone is able to help me find out more about this it would be very much appreciated. :)

First time Clomid user?

Hi every one I am a first time clomid user. My husband and I have been trying to start a family for over 2 years. The dr wants to try to super ovulate me and see if that helps. I took my Clomid on cycle day 3-7 50mg. I was just a little concerned because I had no side effects at all. I took it at night time to avoid hot flashes and such at work but it really didn't effect me at all. Does this mean it may have not worked. I know so many people who have taken it some at night and still had some side effects. Right now I am just waiting to ovulate and we already started baby dancing we are baby dancing every other day from cycle day 10 through 20. Has any one else had no side effects on clomid but were still successful? Or was put on Clomid to super ovulate? Baby dust to all who are trying. I hope this is the month we all get our BFP.

My best friend has odd behavior?

He's been acting like this for a long time and it's starting to concern me. He's a kid who I can't read easily and sometimes I doubt whether or not he cares about me. Sometimes he'll be really nice and will make me happy and cheer me up when I'm sad, or some other times when I need him to help the most, he'll just say 'whatever' or just complain how I'm over emotional. I agree I can be over emotional, especially for a guy. But I don't believe that's a bad thing. I think it's ok to be different that way. My best friend used to be equally as emotional as me, but by the looks of it, I fixed it for him. He's not sad anymore. He says he never feels lonely and he rarely hangs out with any friends over the Summer. He's my best friend and next year we're going to seperate high schools and we won't see eachother as much, so I try to spend all the time I can with him (about once a week for 6-8 hours at the most). I'm afraid I might be bothering him. It's hard to get questions out of him because whenever I tell him that I'm worried or want to know how he feels, he thinks it doesn't matter, or he clearly just lies to me and says everything's fine. I've told him multiple, multiple times that if he ever needs help, or someone to talk to, he can come to me. He never does. He did say to me he isn't very sociable and when he goes on his computer, he never goes on any IM or anything anymore (he lives far away and I hate the phone) so we'd usually talk on the computer. But he just stopped going on IMs because he thinks I'm going to bother him about something I guess... I can ramble on about some stuff I'm worried about, but it usually comes to an end at some point. 96 Cavalier overheating.?

I got a 96 cavalier 2dr with a 2.2 litre and a 5spd. The head gasket was torn and leaking from the driver's front corner of the head. So i had it replaced along with the thermostat as well. Got it back and it overheated right away so i took it back and he put another thermostat in it. It still wanted to overheat, so i got one from a different place and we tried that. Bled the air out of the system for 45min to an hour. Then i drove it home without a problem (25miles). Then the very next morning i got up for work and decided to let it run for 20 min (its cold in iowa) and then i headed out to work, got half way to work (12-14 miles) and it wanted to overheat. So we put a waterpump in it and he bled the air out again. I drove it less than 10 miles and it wanted to get hot AGAIN. We put a pressure tester to it and pumped it up to 5lbs. Its possible that it couldve been a positive but if there is only one like going up, like it would with a positive, and there is no negative line, then that test had an error in it. If you want, i suggest that you go back to the store and buy a digital test that says clearly "pregnant" or "not pregnant" or if you dont mind waiting, go to your doctor and get a blood test. Was This About Race And If Not...... Why?

I do NOT think it was about race. Folks not familiar with Oakland's history may not be aware that Dellums has been a very hands off Mayor. He was well loved as a congressional representative for decades. He came out of retirement to run for mayor of Oakland. So far he is perceived as an absentee mayor in much of the community. During a rash of restaurant takeover robberies in Oakland and its surrounding communities Dellums was quoted as saying overall crime was down. The citizenry had to explain to him that IPODS stolen from cars was not the same as thugs taking over a restaurant brandishing automatic weapons. I would venture to say letting him speak would have benn more damaging in the community. I believe the families understood just how much the Bay Area community needed this service to mourn the loss of these officers, not just the department and the families themselves. I believe Dellums speaking would have been more divisive, it certainly would have been out of character. I feel for Dellums, coming out of retirement seems to have tarnished the excellent reputation he earned in Congress.

Is OB GYN malpractice? =(?

In early Sept. I started feeling ill. By Mid Sept in Emergency Room a few times with crippling abdomen pain. The first time they said stress, next they refered me to GYN. The GYN they refered me to had 21 day waiting period. Looked in Yellow pages and \went to OB GYN within a few days after pleading for an urgent appointment. I was 100% thrall w/ history to this OB GYN Dr. He performed exams, Ultra Sound - said I was fine - sent for MRI said all was Fine - By mid October I was in horrific pain he called " SAID "Its all over for you, your in menopause you’ll feel better soon- Said all tests say FINE MRI Ultra etc... and said Surgery would be a waste of time. Further, he listed 4 specifics I DID NOT HAVE - while a month ½ later I had learned every last one of them! After bed ridden until end OCT., Went to friends Dr.. I was internally bleeding, Adenomyosis, endometriosis and etc... Basically no choice by Nov. 5th when saw Dr. Out of state CT - TOO LATE - Had full hysterectomy. Been out of work since 1st week of Sept. now STD ran out after 3 mos. LTD just completed investigation no preexisting so they are soon to pay ( I PRAY). Not 100% My rt ovary and ligaments were plastered to my rt hip - glued like, my left affixed to colon . 1/2 abdomen filled with blood and liver moved up to right, my Uterus was ABOUT TO BURST per Surgeon I would have died if no surgery. My husband ped away on mothers day last year. Because I shared that with Dr. he and the ER dismissed me as a head case. Now, I cant have kids in the prime of my life. Filed a formal complaint with my health insurance Aetna. Need a lawyer I need to know they take his license away. The Dr. who did surgery said there is no way an MRI could not pick up on this. So if this mess was not there at time of MRI - than shame on him 3 weeks later. Or if it was there, what happened in that MRI and Ultra sound 3 weeks earlier? Is it custom for him to tell patients its all in their head?

Okay, first off I live in Florida. In Pinellas County. I posted an ad on craigslist to sell my Verizon Blackberry smartphone. Cosigning for an apartment?

We live in Minnesota. We co-signed for our son's apartment when he left for college. The agreement we signed states that we do not have to sign again in order for him to renew his lease -- which he has done through August 2011. He has also failed to meet his rental obligation three times in 2010. In order to protect our credit rating, we paid his rent for him. I found the Scarlet Letter more interesting. It's sweet, and teaches a good lesson. It would be a great book to do a report on. It's also really well written.
