Why are Indian/ Native American people so secluded from main stream America?

Out of all the races talked about. Out of all the races that aren't originally from america. Why are Indian/ Native Americans( Cherokee, Chickasaw, Croatan, Aztec, Mayan & Innoko etc....), not included in Mainstream Media and Corperate America? Yes we have a plethora of Doctors that are of Indian decent; but why is it, that Indians in general, are barely seen, heard, or spoken of on the daily basis. Indians/ Native Americans were in North and South America before most of us Euro and Afro Americans were. As a matter of fact, it used to be possible to say most First Generation Americans have a modi of Cherokee Indian in them. That is Euro and Afro americans though. Yes but just wondering. Sorry to leave out Latino, Hispanic and Asian Americans; but you guys are not exactly "First Generation Americans".
