Hugo Chavez?

I have seen Hugo Chavez over the years and i wanted to know why America hates him?The only noticeable thing he has done is become allies of Cuba and Iran.He has done nothing illegal and doesn't sponsor any type of terrorist.Does this show that republicans are gullible and believe everything they hear withought formulating their own opinions?Chavez came to New York and gave oil to poor citizens and the government frowned upon it.It makes no sense.
